Joanne Facci, mother of 3 alums and a current Fourth grade student writes. . . The school is a living, thriving Christian community, and not just a set of separate classrooms. Traditions abound-Blue and Gold Day (go gold), Winter Fun Day, (pray for snow), Godspeed (Bring your tissues), Marathon (bring your umbrella). We have no family nearby. St. Rita School was our extended family. Suzanne Reask, mother of two alum believes that . . . Sister Katherine Ann leads St. Rita School with faith and love. She hires great people to help carry out the mission of the school. Every student knows they are special and loved. One of our favorite guiding principles as parents is "Parents need to provide their children with two important gifts – roots and wings. By sending our children to St. Rita School we know that important roots are being developed –faith in God, love of learning, service to community, love of friends and family, taking care of mind, body and spirit. Together with St. Rita School we are preparing our children to fly into the future. Mrs. Charleton mother of a Third grader and a Fifth grader says… Having spent 19 years as a high school teacher and guidance counselor in the public school system I try to assist students when they have faced adversity in their lives. It is very clear to me the students who have no faith life struggle greatly and have "nothing" to cling to. Sister Katherine Ann is one of the biggest reasons we chose St. Rita School. She has the perfect blend of qualities it takes to be an effective leader! Mr. & Mrs. Tony Tarana whose sons have attended St. Rita School and continue their education in Catholic Schools tell us. . . We both decided that faith would be the biggest gift we could ever give our children. - We have had many conversations about the cost, but we have decided that maybe we won’t have a brand new car or home but will be doing more for our children.
Mrs. Sennett whose three older children are alums and attend Catholic High Schools and also has one child here tells us she sent her children to St. Rita School because . . . The fulfillment when I exchange a look with my husband at the end of a school liturgy and we know this is why we sacrifice to send them here. This is the gift. This is the difference. More importantly we have found the solid faith-filled foundation to be the base upon which they grow, develop, and build their lives as committed Catholic citizens in an ever increasing, morally challenged world. Mrs. Joan Sullivan, former co-chair of our School Advisory Committee, mother of two alums says. . . We consider the school to be our partner in raising a faith filled and well-rounded individual. Mary Ann Kwiatkowski mother of three alums tells us she chose St. Rita School because of. . . . Teachers who care enough to discipline Quality academics Mrs. Padgett, mother of a Fourth grader and two alums says . . . The children are able and encouraged on a daily basis to grow strong roots in their faith, then they can spread their wings with confidence as they share their talents with the world. Mrs. Karen Muir-Smith an alum, mother of 3 graduates and a current Kindergarten Aide and Lunch Monitor says . . . Sister Katherine Ann is a very calming influence on the children, which is very comforting in this turbulent world we live in. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hohl parents of four alums and a 2007 grad said. . . We have found the solid faith-filled foundation to be the base upon which they grow, develop, and build their lives as committed Catholic citizens in an ever increasing morally challenged world. Giovanna Sloan an alum, Mercy grad and Fordham University grad tells us. . . St. Rita School is not merely an elementary school, but a family. From the moment you walk in the doors of 1008 Maple Dr. on your first day – and believe me, eighteen years later, I still remember vividly – you are pulled into a perpetual, familiar embrace. It is a place where you learn not only the alphabet, grammar and arithmetic but love, compassion, self-esteem and selflessness. Living out-of-town, eleven years later there is still a part of me that remains tied to St. Rita School. When I drop by on any given day I am welcomed as a family member by all within. Mary Bridget Sennett a grad who is attending Aquinas Institute says. . . The gift of knowing that no matter how many years ago you graduated, you are always welcome back at St. Rita. Sister’s arms and pride are waiting for you at the front door. Elizabeth Padgett an alum and 2004 Valedictorian at Webster tells us. . . St. Rita School gave me a good foundation spiritually, making prayer and meditation part of my normal life. Otherwise I may have grown up viewing religion as something that only applies within family life, and with which the outside world has little concern. Ann Michels Pacher a 1987 graduate and mother of an alum is thankful for. . . The support and understanding when personal issues or financial hardships arise Sr. Katherine Ann – she is why St. Rita School is what it is today. A 1996 graduate, Andrew McGrath remembers. . . The terrific St. Rita School community and all the fun events I look back on with great memories – the marathon, sledding on Winter Fun Day, basketball games, school liturgies, Blue and Gold Day and so many more.
