Principal’s Newsletter  11/20/09

"Be humble and you will never be disturbed. It is very difficult in practice because we all want to see the result of our work. Leave it to Jesus."

Eat at Marks

On my first day on the job here at St. Michaels (July 1), I reached out to the 100 most successful businesses in the Rochester area asking for support of our school.  One of them, Mark’s Pizzeria, has responded by making December St. Michael’s month at their Penn Yan store.   For each large pizza purchased at Marks during the month of December, Mark’s will donate $1.00 to St. Michael’s School and will ask the customer if they would like to match that donation.  So, a big thanks to Mark’s Pizzeria and a shout out to all of you to support our school by eating Mark’s Pizza in December!!

PAC  Meeting

The next meeting of the Parent Advisory Committee is Monday  (11/23).  Only a few parents were able to attend our last meeting and I hope more can come on the Monday.   The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

H1N1 Vaccine at SMS

The H1N1 vaccination clinic at St. Michael’s school is scheduled for November 30th.   Only students who were registered by Nov. 16th will be eligible to be vaccinated at SMS.

St. Michael’s Book Fair

The annual SMS Book Fair is coming.  Thanks to the efforts of Catherine Abbott our books will go on sale on December 2nd and will be available all that week as well as on Saturday and Sunday December 5th and 6th (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.).

A Christmas Carol comes to SMS

The Hampstead Stage Players will be presenting their stage version of “A Christmas Carol” for our students at St. Michael’s Church on Monday November 23rd  at 11:00 a.m.  This group is highly acclaimed and have performed at SMS previously.  We are all looking forward to this exciting event and parents are welcome to join us!

School Mass Tuesday

Our next school mass is scheduled for Tuesday (11/24) and parents are encouraged to attend.  Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church.

Canned Food Drive

The annual SMS canned food drive will start right after Thanksgiving and our goal is 300 cans.  This year’s challenge is unique………if the goal is attained I have agreed to work from the school roof for a full day!  Let’s get those 300 cans and hope for a mild day in December!!

School Painting Available

Prints of the new water color painting of St. Michael’s are on sale for $50 through the SMS office.  The original painting may be viewed after each mass this weekend at St. Michael’s Church in the Liberty Street entrance.

And just a few more things…………..

Innisbrook orders have arrived, please stop by to pick your’s up if you haven’t already!

The St. Michael’s School Christmas Concert is scheduled for December 17th.

January is our “Season of Change” and we are asking all friends of St. Michaels to save their change and donate it to SMS then.  We will have a big jar in the main office, so start saving now!

And yes, I have received several phone calls from Ralph Wilson about becoming the new head coach for the Buffalo Bills, but unless he actually can match my salary here at SMS, I don’t plan on returning his calls!

Thanks……watch for the Principal’s Newsletter next Wednesday.
