Mark yout calendars: our 2009 Christmas Concert is Wed., 12/16 at 1PM as well as Thurs., 12/17 at 7PM!
Our program provides regular classroom instruction in basic notation, music theory, western and non-western literature, vocal technique, choral repertoire, and cultural history. Music classes often tie into the school's Social Studies, Religion, English Language Arts, and Science curricula.
Goals include the development of critical listening and analytical skills, an historic cultural context, enhanced performing ability and self-confidence, and a fundamental framework for understanding and enjoying the performing arts.
Grades 1-5 have music class twice a week. Middle School and Kindergarten classes meet for general music once a week. Instructional materials include the Music Connection classroom textbook series and accompanying CDs.
Performing opportunities include our annual Choral Christmas Concert, Mass Choirs, Arts Nights performances, and a special Commencement Chorus. Students in Grades 3-8 may also elect to take band instrument lessons during school and participate in a spring recital.
Academics and religion intertwine in our classes. Students regularly explore the spiritual aspects of music, and they are encouraged to experience music as an expression of faith.
