Our Schools » Catholic Identity
Catholic Schools, supported by the twelve counties of the Diocese of Rochester, are deeply rooted in Catholic teaching and philosophy. We provide an environment which supports Catholic tradition in the school, as well as, in the home. Characteristics which distinguish Catholic Schools in the development of student religious identity are: - commitment of administration and faculty to Catholic principles in a school setting
- continued nurturing of students in a caring and respectful atmosphere, which permeates our programs, practices, and policies
- partnership of parents and faculty as primary religious educators of students
- preservation and transmission of Catholic tradition through the faith community of the school as part of the larger Catholic community
- implementation of community service programs and the social justice teachings of the Church which develop student character and foster a sense of civic, moral and individual responsibility
- coordination of special liturgies by the school chaplain who also facilitates communication between the schools, parishes and ministers to the total school community
