Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1 when it will become 1:00 a.m. (again!) Eastern Standard Time, our local standard time. In any case, you have the opportunity to get an extra hour's sleep on Saturday night/Sunday morning. If you forget to set your clocks back, you should be able to get a great seat at church if you show up an hour early! Still confused??? Masses will include music from both the contemporary and traditional choirs, and a creative homily by Father Leo. There will be a coffee hour following the Masses. A registration form was sent home with the Friday, October 30, envelope materials. Registration forms with pre-payment must be received by November 6, 2009. Please provide your child's snack and lunch. Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 children will have rest time from 12:30 - 1:30. There will be planned activities, outside playtime (weather permitting), and gym time. Immaculate Conception School (Ithaca) Holiday NO SCHOOL: Veteran's Day Holiday Observed Veterans' Day is celebrated on Wednesday, November 11. There will be no school on that day. There will be vacation day care available from 8:00 a.m. until all are picked up (no later than 5:30 p.m.). The last day to register for vacation day care is Monday, November 9. If you have not returned your Fun Walk envelope, please send it in on Monday, November 9. Immaculate Conception School (Ithaca) Academic Report Card Distribution Friday, November 13, is report card day for students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 6. All students will be brining home their first marking period grades. Please ask to see your child's report card, sign, and return the report card to school. You may discuss any concerns you may have about your child's report at a parent-teacher conference. The confirmation of your parent-teacher conference appointment time is in the Friday, November 13, family envelope. If you cannot make the scheduled time, please let us know (office phone 273-2707). The order form stated that there was to be no school on this day; however, school WILL BE IN SESSION on Friday, November 13. Parent-teacher conferences have been scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, November 20. On that day we will have an 11:00 dismissal. The after-school program will be available starting at 11:00. Students from Dryden, Lansing, and Trumansburg will have to be picked up by parents or go to the after-school program until the normal 2:00 pickup. It is extremely important that students are in school on those days to take the test. We have only a short time for make-ups (on Wednesday and Thursday). Please check your calendars to make sure nothing conflicts with this important assessment. Please make sure that your child is well rested and has had breakfast before coming to school. Students have been practicing to take these tests so that they will be familiar with the format. If you were not satisfied with your child's photo, you must send back the complete picture package for your child to have the retake. If your child did not have their photo taken, they will have their picture taken this time. Order forms are in the office if needed. We will have a guest speaker, Ms. Carol Geddis from the Catholic School Administrators Association of New York, who will speak to the topic of how to help your child succeed in school. There will be time for questions and discussion with the speaker and the teachers. Please mark your calendar and plan on joining us. We will have an early dismissal at 11:00 so that conferences may be held. The parent-Teacher conference is a valuable means of communication between home and school. the conference will allow parents the opportunity to discuss with the teacher your child's growth and development; therefore, it is important that all families schedule a conference. Conferences will be scheduled in 15 minute time periods. If you feel that you need extended time to meet with your child's teacher(s), please let us know.
