St. Agnes provides quality education at every grade level, from our Pre-K program through Sixth Grade. Our students performance on New York State tests is consistently higher than surrounding schools - both public and private. "St. Agnes has a wonderful reputation for its academic excellence," explains Gerald E. Benjamin Ph.D., St. Agnes’ principal. Continually striving for excellence and building on it has been Dr. Benjamin’s goal since he was hired as principal in 1997.
Dr. Benjamin has since introduced three major academic programs: a new math program through McGraw Hill, a new reading/language arts program and a new science program, both through Scholastic Publishers.
St. Agnes also offers an outstanding Fine Arts & Cultural Enrichment Program. In the past five years, we have hosted numerous guest groups and performances. Among the most impressionable productions for the children were the Chinese Classical/Folk Dance Ensemble, Dewey Halverson on Alaska’s Iditarod, the Syracuse Opera performing Hansel & Gretel, the Tremont String Quartet,The Dady Brothers, internationally known artist Colin Coots, The Catskill Puppet Theater, and the R.P.O. Brass Ensemble.
Technology is also an integral part of our educational process today. Dr. Benjamin applauds the efforts of our sophisticated and dynamic technology committee. "All these talented people have made enormous strides to update our equipment and programs. We are very fortunate to have such advanced technology in our classrooms," explains Dr. Benjamin.
